Today we will be looking at important question that is probably common among people as we come in contact with diverse challenges in the course of life as we journey daily in this earth. This question was asked by Mary, the mother of Jesus. I’m such in our diverse experiences we ask this question,”HOW SHALL THIS THING BE”?
Today we will be having our meditation from the book of Luke 1:34. It’s the conversation Mary had with the Angel Gabriel on bearing the Messiah.
I find this conversation interesting because it can be applied to many different aspect of our lives, but in this case I will apply it to the single season.
The full question was, “… how shall this be, seeing I know not a man?”
What I find interesting about the conversation Mary had with Angel Gabriel is the two perspectives they both approached the situation from. Gabriel came from the presence of God, and was delivering a message based on God’s track record of bringing his word to pass. To him there are no impossibilities with God, and he knows God’s word can not fall to the ground. While Mary is looking at the natural circumstance she was currently in. From her perspective conceiving and bringing forth a son was impractical and impossible. Her current situation did not align with the word they Angel said. So she responds with “how shall this be, seeing I know not a man.”
Have you ever had someone decree a thing over you, or you speak a word over yourself, but the reality of what was said does not match your circumstance? The question is, does that limit God’s ability to bring it to pass because the word doesn’t match your situation? No.
In verse 37, after Gabriel answered her question in verse 35 and 36 he states, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” So, in this single season you might be a guy or girl looking at your surroundings and wondering how. Where will this man or woman appear from? Or maybe it’s how will this full-time job come, or it could be how will deliverance come? Whatever the seemingly impossible situation is, know that impossibility is not a nature that describes God. His nature is setting the solitary in families. He created marriage in the very beginning, so it is within his capacity to bring your own. So stop doubting his ability to do it.
And like Peter, stop looking at your surroundings and the raging sea, because you will drown. Look to Jesus, that’s the only way you will rise above and not sink. In the meantime, thank him wholeheartedly for having done it.
I pray ,may the good Lord grant us help to believe his word and act with it in all our endeavours Amen.
