Beloved, the Lord will want us to look at this scripture in another perspective beyond what you have known in the light of His revelation. Let;s hear what our Lord Jesus Christ is telling us.
Luke 18:27 “And he said, the things which are impossible with men are possible with God”.
Luke18:18-27 It says ” And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him,Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him,Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said,How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! . For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? And he said,The things which are impossible with men are possible with God”.
A rich young man came to Jesus Christ to ask what he could do to inherit eternal life. Jesus started by telling him to obey the commandments. The rich young ruler replied that he had been obeying the commandments right from his youth up. Jesus Christ ended by saying that he should go and sell all that he had and give to the poor, and he would have treasure in heaven; thereafter he should come and follow him. The rich young ruler went home sorrowful – he could not let go of his possession to follow Jesus.
Jesus said to His disciples that it is hard for those who are rich to enter the kingdom of God. Furthermore, He added that it easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. The audience were shocked and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus then quoted the opening scripture to them. Jesus explained to them that even though it is hard for the rich to enter the kingdom, it is not impossible because God is capable of making some of them enter.
Those who can enter are those who do not trust in their riches but trust God for their riches. Dearly beloved, what is the Lord asking you to sell before you can follow Him? He may be asking to sell your love for money, pride , anger, lust, backbiting and such like better still you may know it more than I do, those are the things He is asking you and I to sell so as to follow Him without looking back, because none of these things can grant us an entrance into the Kingdom of God. Outside of this all other Christian life will be a life of self righteousness.
Remember the young rich man was not telling Jesus a lie when he said “All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?” Matt. 19:20.

If he was saying a lie Jesus could have told him, young man what you are saying is not true, rather Jesus gave him a thumbs up for saying the truth, a lot of us who are Christians ( believers) are not truthful with ourselves what we say are not in propinquity to what we do and that is why God is saying to us “Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom” psalm 51:6.
Remember, the things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Only with God we will be able to sell all that is not of God and begin to follow Jesus and not trusting in our own self righteousness. May the Lord help us. Amen!
