Beloved this is one of the striking verse of the scriptures that calls for a rethink as we come to the close of the age in our journey with Christ. Therefore we ought to behave ourselves wisely knowing fully well that the day of the LORD is now not a futuristic event. Let us give more thought on this very scripture as it says:
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness. Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat” (2 Peter 3:10-12).
We are in a time when the Lord will have us to be wise (and not unwise) knowing what the will (time) of the Lord is! There are many things about time. One of the main things is that: this is the hour of darkness. This is an hour where by divine arrangement; darkness has been given opportunity to thrive (2 Thessalonians 2). This mystery did NOT start working today; this mystery has been at work, right from the time of Jesus, down to Paul’s time, and now, to our time. The difference between then and now is that in their time, there was a level of divine restrain. The rebuke of the Lord was very much in force. “Thus far you shall come and no further”. But the time has come, a time, whereby the agreement of the two parties, (GOD and SATAN) things are allowed to come to a head.
The Issue At Stake
There is something very crucial that is at stake. What is at stake?. It is the time of long issue between God and Satan. There were certain terms that were put on the table that, affect you and I. One of which was demonstrated in how Jesus related with Judas. Remember, all the while Judas was with the company, he took full part in the ministry, he went out with other disciples to cast out devils, he demonstrated the power of the kingdom of God. But in the hour of darkness, at the height of the hour of darkness, Satan was able to enter Judas, because he did not deal with sin in his life. We are in a very peculiar time and all of us must be careful because this is the hour of darkness.
In this hour of darkness, darkness is been given the opportunity, by the removal of its constraints. Now if you are not ready and restrain is fully removed, it means that you could be swept away. When you hear “there is time no longer”, it does not necessary mean that Jesus is coming at that moment, it means that, in this time frame, you ought to be ready and prepared to be tested. God will submit each and every one of us to an examination before we are proved. May the LORD help us to stand the test of time in Jesus name. Amen.
